TheElectricArcFurnaceofalternating current. The Electric Arc Furnace is designed for the output of liquid melt with the required temperature. Thebasicfunctionsofthefurnace:smeltingofsolidfurnace charge and heating of liquid melt up to the temperature pouring the steel into steel-casting ladle; carbon oxidation, silicon, manganese, phosphorus and other admixtures contained in the furnace charge.
Theprocessofsmeltingandheating isintensifiedbyoxygen-fuelburnerswithinjectionofcoal-firedfuelensuringinput of additional energy at the expense of reaction of oxidation of carbon and admixtures in steel as well as at the expense of afterburning of carbon monoxide.
EachfirstsmeltinginElectricArcFurnaceafterdischargeof the liquid rest is carried out with the application of steel scrap (40 %) and Hot Direct Reduction Iron (HDRI) (60 %), subsequently application of scrap in charging will be carried out in each4÷5 smeltings. The steel scrap Electric Arc Furnace Workshop is supplied from Scrap Preparation Yard (SPY) into charging baskets with the capacity of 120 m3, installed on the bases by way of automotive scrap transfercar.
HDRI with the temperature about 600 0С from MIDREX units is transported by conveyors into Electric Arc Furnace hoppers (two into each furnace) from where across the discharge leg it is supplied into Arc Furnaces. The transportation of HDRI is carried out in the neutral environment. Parallel with HDRI in the capacity of furnace charge the Hot Direct Reduction Iron (HDRI) will be used, supplied across the conveyors into separate bins of Electric Arc Furnace Workshop.
